1. Sourcing
- Primary sources first. Statute, regulator publications, policy documents, fund prospectuses and issuer disclosures rank above secondary reporting.
- Numbers carry a date. Any rate, threshold or benchmark is stated with the period it applies to, because a stale figure presented as current is a factual error.
- No unsourced benchmarks. Where we cite a typical or median figure, it comes from a published dataset or an aggregated sample we can describe.
- Vendor claims are labelled as vendor claims. A provider's marketing figure is never presented as an independent finding.
2. Model disclosure
Every interactive model on this site publishes three things: its inputs, its formula behaviour in plain language, and an explicit list of what it does not account for. That last item is the one most publishers omit and the one that most affects how much weight a reader should give the output.
Editable by designIf you disagree with a return, inflation or fee assumption, you can change it and watch the conclusion move. A model whose assumptions are locked is an advertisement.
3. Review cadence
| Content type | Review interval | Trigger for immediate review |
|---|---|---|
| Rate-sensitive guides (mortgage, credit, savings) | Quarterly | Material policy rate move |
| Tax and entity guides | Annually | Legislative change or new thresholds |
| Insurance guides | Semi-annually | Regulatory change in a major market |
| Interactive models | Quarterly | Any reported calculation discrepancy |
| Evergreen frameworks | Annually | Substantive new evidence |
Every guide carries a visible last-reviewed date and a revision log at the foot of the page. If a page has no log entry, it has not been substantively changed since publication.
4. Corrections
- Report itUse the contact form and select correction. Include the page and the specific figure or claim.
- We verify within five working daysThe owning desk analyst checks the claim against primary sources.
- Material errors are corrected and loggedThe correction appears in the revision log with a date and a description of what changed. We do not silently edit.
- Substantive errors get a note in the bodyWhere a conclusion changed, the page says so at the point the reader needs to know.
- Typos are fixed without a log entryOnly factual and analytical changes are logged.
5. Advertising separation
- Display advertising is programmatic. Inventory is filled by the ad platform; we do not select advertisers by name.
- Advertisers never see drafts and have no route to request changes, additions or removals.
- No affiliate comparison tables. We do not operate commission-ranked product lists anywhere on the site.
- Ad units are visually distinct and labelled, and are never styled to resemble editorial cards.
- No advertising inside model outputs. A calculator result page is never used to place a promotion.
Commercial terms are set out publicly on the advertise page, including what we decline.
6. Use of AI
We use language models as drafting and research accelerators, never as a publishing pipeline. Every published page is written or substantively rewritten by the named author, checked against primary sources, and signed off by the desk owner. No page is published on a model's unedited output, and the byline always names a human who is accountable for the content.
7. Independence and conflicts
- Analysts disclose material holdings in any instrument or company they write about specifically.
- No paid placements in the newsletter. Ever, in any form.
- No sponsored guides, advertorials, or "in partnership with" editorial.
- No gifts or paid travel from firms in the categories we cover.
